Random Thoughts

Maybe i shall start with Desmond's ultra-glam 21st Birthday Celebration held at Altivo Bar @ Mount Faber Jewel Box. Admittedly, i had a similar idea for my own Birthday celebration should i decide to hold one, but ultimately, the cost just blew me away. Service standards at 'Singapore's Iconic Hill-top Destination' was disappointing to say the least. Made me wonder just how much progress has the Government initiative, 'GEMS', made since its inception. Forget about Going the Extra Mile for Service, i doubt they even moved an inch. It's almost that Bad.
Talking about Service Standards in Singapore, or rather the lack of it, it looks like even the award-winning Singapore Airlines has not managed to escape the wrath of their passengers. It has been noted that SIA's trademark 'inflight service that even other airlines talk about' has not met the high standards that passengers have come to expect. It's probably no coincidence that SIA lost out to Cathay Pacific in the OAG 'Airline of the Year' for 2006 in what is dubbed as 'The Oscars of the Airline Industry'. Singapore Girl, time to start cracking!
Alright, back to Desmond's Night.. despite the lack of quality service in this quality setting, the dinner turned out to be a resounding success.. Cheers..

Great View from The Altivo Bar @ Mount Faber

Despite being a glam event, Wendy just couldn't resist Smashing it into the Birthday Boy's face. =P

So much have happened since my last entry, but yet, ironically, maybe nothing much have happened after all. Oh well.

June 1st (and 2nd)

June 1st, 2006. O.R.D. Need i elaborate more on its significance? After 2 years and 2 months in the camouflage green uniform, I've finally regained my freedom. Admittedly, I've had some fortunate 'breaks' during my term of service but still, it wasn't easy going through all that s**t in Tekong and R.O.C. Shall not delve too much into that, those who have undergone similar s**t will understand how difficult a path it has been. A big Thank You to everyone who was there in R.O.C for that month.. My B.C.S team (Fariq!).. Nightly Soccer games.. White House.. KenTing Night's-off.. (oops). Such wonderful memories indeed. =) But who would have thought, on such a significant day that I actually 'didn't have the time' to collect my Pink IC. Oh Well.
Since i didn't collect my IC on this day, June 1st, 2006 will instead be remembered as The Day I received my first 21st Birthday Prez.. and Of Course, this wasn't just any present. Thank You..

No Pink IC to show for on June 1st

Heading back to camp for the last time to collect my Pink IC sure did bring back lots of memories of the place.. Having seen numerous people come back to collect their ICs and flaunting it in front of us, it's now MY turn.. Muahaha.

The Old Birds

Been trying to ask around to check out the response for the AHS Anniversary Dinner.. It would have been a perfect Birthday celebration for me (Well, almost), and with the current AHS being so alien to us now, it was probably the only way we could re-visit the past AHS which had brought such unforgettable memories. (Admittedly, this wasn't the only reason why I wanted to go for this dinner so badly. Oops.) But unfortunately, not everyone shares the same sentiments as i did, and it didn't help that the ticket was a whopping $80 at Singapore Expo. I guess it's a real turn off that it's held at Expo (again!), most were expecting some Hotel Ballroom since it's $80. But then again, thinking from another point of view, as students, we've been enjoying subsidized rates for special functions.. Be it the AHS 45th Anniversary Dinner or JC Prom.. Now that we are alumni, I wouldn't expect any subsidy for us, so maybe that's why we are feeling the full brunt of the actual cost. Haix.
