No Life

'I guess, that's what happens when one starts to study - you can't do anything outside of your academic life not feeling guilty 'wasting' time that could have been used for studying.I hate it when this place is left stagnant, for I've a lot of things to say, either about current affairs, about my life, or giving some reflections based on what I've studied in my modules. However, as I've mentioned, it's hard to do anything outside of academics without having the feeling of guilt.' I can feel the frustration that thiam and bd are feeling right now. I thought university is a place where we can air our concerns and discuss issues pertaining to the things that we had studied. But I somehow do not feel that way. Although smu is branded as a 'different' uni where we are apparently potrayed to do the things that I mentioned earlier, there's none of it which I have ever done before. The short lessons are a contributory factor, given that the professor has no time to teach and have discussions at the same time. If he chooses to facilitate discussions, the time spent on inculcating the right knowledge to the students is very limited. The end result is that students have to spend a lot of time and effort outside of class to read up on the material that the prof wants to discuss. Even if we do so, the discussions are not very fruitful i.e. not as engaging for the whole class, as only a handful of students bother to read up before class to be able to truly engage in a worthwhile discussion. If the prof chooses to teach instead, then we have no time for discussions. I personally find it frustrating to only study for the sake of examaminations and to come out with template answers that fulfill the criteria of A+ and such. There is simply not much room for deeper contemplation and the time left outside of studying is perhaps, at best for sleeping or exercising.
